Genealogy Room
We are happy to announce that our records or genealogy room will be available when the museum opens on May 3, 2010. Records now in the room include the original Circuit Court records, a number of school records before consolidation, small boxes of clippings, lots of obituaries, census records of 1850,1860,1870,1880,1900,1910 and 1920, cemetery records compiled by Bill and Dorothy Williams on the computer as well as other miscellaneous lists. We also have family histories. We are grateful to Kay and Joe Williams for the donation of the computer to use.
Following are the fees we have now set up Fees for research by mail
$10 minimum for first hour, researching one name, payable in advance, $10 per hour each additional hour. Will notify of total charges before mailing.
$3.00 minimum for obituaries mailed, includes 2, each additional obituary 50 cents each
$3.00 minimum for original Circuit Court record look up, includes 2 pages, each additional page 50 cents for legal, 25 cents for letter size
$3.00 minimum for one Original school record look up, includes 2 page, each additional page 50 cents each.
Fees for copying onsite
25 cents for letter size copy
50 cents for legal size copy
No charge for research help onsite but donations accepted.
No cameras, scanners or copying device allowed for copying
Bring only paper and pencils (laptop allowed without case)
Right now the Records room will be open on Mondays & Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and other times by appointment by e-mailing joanshepp@plsos.com
